Liturgy
Liturgy is the bedrock of the life of the congregation. Each Sunday we gather to celebrate
the resurrections of our Lord using the BCP. Eucharist is at the center of our liturgy.
However, due to the varied levels of Anglicans that we have, our Sunday liturgy is unique.
The enormous challenge of meeting the needs of Anglo Catholics, moderate and
Evangelical Anglicans in one service is the work of the Holy Spirit. We urge members and
visitors to be open to the things that God is able to do. .
Membership
The membership of the congregation is vast. St Andrew’s Pentecost is considered one of
the most multiracial, multicultural and multinational church in the Diocese of Chicago. The
diverse nature of her membership is reflected in her social activities, food, liturgy and
fundraisers. Members of the congregation live all over Chicago land, from the east to West
and north to south. Only about 40% of her members live in the city of Evanston.
We celebrate our unique membership of seniors, middle age, young, young adults and
children. Members are affiliated to the church because of the special collegiality and warmth
that members feel each time they come together. Members are open and hospitable to
visitors and new members of the congregation.

Members of the outreach committee have a special task of reaching out to both members
and non members of the church by the embodying the love of Christ in practical ways. The
trials and tribulations of the world have in some cases discouraged some Christians and
especially, some members of the church with the result that they cease coming to church.
The outreach committee reaches out to such people and encourages them in their trial. It
often helps during difficult times to know that people care about us and are with us.
Also the work of the committee includes but not limited to caring for those outside the
church who are in need of material things such as food and clothe. As the body of Christ we
believe that lending out a hand of help is powerful and able to save life through the power of
the Holy Spirit.
Part of the goal of the church this year is to donate some money to Orlu Women’s group in
Nigeria to assist in their work of providing shelter to the less privileged in their community.
Outreach

from different cultures. Every service of the church is always a celebration of the risen Christ
and a time for members with one heart and mind to exalt our great God. The As a
